This element of the NEXT Leadership Development Toolkit focuses in on helping individuals determine their baseline skill levels and create a launching point for future development.  It includes a self-assessment tool built around questions related to specific leadership traits viewed to be foundational for all leaders. Through this assessment, an individual can get to know themselves better, as well as seek perspectives and feedback from others as part of their initial personal assessment.  This self-assessment exercise can serve as the starting point to formulate specific development focus areas.



After completing the self assessment, the creation of a leadership skills development plan is necessary to help outline actions to achieve desired behavior changes and goals related to skill development needs identified. Self reflection as well as peer and leader feedback should be included in a well rounded plan.
